'Puffin' LED light
£10.00
Puffins are expert divers: They can dive up to 60 metres (200 feet) underwater to hunt for fish like sand eels and herring where a puffin's serrated beak will allow it to carry an average of 10 fish at once, though one was famously recorded with 83 fish.
They spend most of the year (roughly 8 months) living on the open ocean, only returning to land to breed in warmer months such as March and August, then they have a winter makeover where their famous colourful beaks shed the outer plates in winter, leaving a smaller, duller grey beak.
A baby puffin is called a puffling. They are raised in burrows dug into grassy clifftops or rock crevices, and as they mature into stocky birds, they can flap their wings up to 400 times per minute, reaching speeds of 55 mph (88 km/h).
